The Etymology Of All Things Pregnancy, Birth and Fatigue

This week Jen and Jenn dive into the etymology of all things birth, pregnancy and the bone-deep fatigue that comes with it. Expect chat about the obsolete words puggled and mallifluff (aka: our current state), plus plenty of stories, two proseccos and a wardrobe because… we have absolutely no budget.

Moppets, Guts and Eating Humble Pie.

Welcome back! Today we’re talking all things moppets—kids, the tiny whirlwinds who can turn a calm room into absolute chaos in seconds.

We love the wild things they get up to, but we’re also diving into something a bit unexpected: the language of “guts.”

There’s the gut feeling—that instinctive feeling that us females seem to have when something isn't right.

Then “guts for garters,” once a medieval threat, now basically what adults say when a child draws on the walls… again.

And of course, “eating humble pie,” the classic moment when you loudly claim your kid would never throw a tantrum—right before they do… in public.

So today it’s moppets, mayhem, and the wonderfully weird words that remind us just how human—and hilarious—life can be.

Let’s jump in.

Episode 10: Dating App Disasters with Jas, Loaf Bosses and the Sultan of Zanzibar.

Jas joins us in the drobe to unpack the wild world of dating in your 40s. We also explore the cosy, bread-based origins of the word “lady” (very on-brand for two sourdough-loving Jen.n's) and share our (well, we think so) hilarious run-in with a scammer — featuring Jen’s “uncle,” the Sultan of Zanzibar and a very generous inheritance. Chaos, carbs, and midlife mayhem… climb in and enjoy!
